Walk Drift Away

visited a few houses today and as usual, every year i feel like i am desolated in a corner with my sister while my cousins(my mum’s side) are chatting away. i dont seems to be able to communicate with them, or rather, when i try (i did try) they dont seems to be very friendly. i dont have a common topic with them, seriously. they talk about chinese pop stars while i know nuts about them. they play maple story (oh my god…), while i seriously hate the game like @%$^^*&$#$%&&*(*(#&^(%)#*(%. okay and they attend church service together while i don’t.

so i am thinking, what if when i have children and it is chinese new year time and i am suppose to bring them for house visiting. it is like i really have not much relatives to visit in the future. and it seems to be the case for the new generation(us), not very good. traditions might as well fade away as time goes by as society progresses and modernise.

yes, i think the cause of the relation between people to drift apart is the urbanisation of society. families do not live under one roof anymore. and often, there is the break-up of traditional extended family forming nuclear families. it is unlike the past, when families share a kitchen, a toilet, a common hall and many other things like wok? haha. and so people are definitely closer to one another in the past than now. moreover, people are caught up with the money and paper chase to have any more time for frequent meeting up thus, the consequence.

it’s quite sad dont you think? the connections our parents built with our relatives are probably going to end in either our generations or the next generation. so is it true that as we move on towards a modern society, people drift apart? well, kinda…

sorry, i am not very good with my words(vocab).
